Unbundling might just be the latest buzzword in the higher education world. Whereas most industries are moving towards a “bundled” landscape in order to lower prices (think travel agencies bundling together flights and accommodation), the education world is heading in the opposite direction.
It’s safe to say the landscape of the learning world is changing. Originally, traditional courses at colleges and universities were created to prepare students for the workforce, but now it’s less about qualifications and more about practical skills.
More and more traditional courses (the kind which require in-person attendance) are changing to a blended structure that combines elements of both traditional learning formats and online courses. This means learners can still get face-to-face time with tutors and fellow students while having the freedom to learn in a way that suits them.
Today, there has been a revelation in the education industry. Learning is no longer limited to in-person seminars and courses. Instead, the internet has brought about a whole new species of course that tries to eliminate some of the barriers faced with traditional learning.
